APS is led by solar industry veterans David Tutten and Kevin Conlin, with over 70 years combined experience between them. Specializing in high reliability (99.99%) power systems for oil & gas, military and telecom applications, their innovative solutions to difficult problems led to over $100M in business. Now they have shifted their focus to backup power, packaging the latest innovations in electronics and battery technologies into compact, efficient systems for the homeowner.
The founders experienced over a week without power during winter storm Uri in 2021.
During the massive grid failure caused by this storm, resulting in 236 deaths, the need for home backup power became very clear to them.
The founders realized that by utilizing the existing batteries in an electric golf car, they could reduce the cost of a home backup power system by 75 – 80%.
An electric golf car can power critical loads in a home for up to a week.
Battery backed systems are now preferred over portable generators due to safety and other concerns.
There are approximately 1 million privately owned golf cars in the US, with the majority of them in hurricane prone regions.
To meet this need, Power House has developed 2 products to specifically take advantage of the backup power available from an electric golf car.
